8-23-24   THOUGHTS

In Psalms 119, I feel like David is trying to teach me to want God’s mind.  He says below “Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.”  It’s the EXPERIENCE OF WANTING!   David says his “soul is consumed with longing after”  God’s ordinances at all times!  I want that!   Ps 19:7-10   “The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8  The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.   9  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.  10  They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.”

Ps 119:10-20     With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from  Your commandments.  11   Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. 12   Blessed are You, O LORD; Teach me Your statutes. 13   With my lips I have told of All the ordinances of Your mouth. 14  I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. 15  I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. 16  I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. 17   Gimel. Deal bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word. 18
Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. 19   I am a stranger in the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me. 20   My soul is crushed [ESV & NIV have consumed] with longing After Your ordinances at all times.

My Prayer:
May our minds be focused and centered on what matters, O God.  Remove vain diversions from our desire places, and open our eyes to You, O Lord.  Please keep us from ruinous wanderings. Restore our souls, O Father, and awaken us to true living for eternal life.  As the deer pants for the water, may our souls long for You.  Arouse in us a powerful resolve to know You and please You at all times.  We praise You in Jesus’ name,     Amen.
